Our client a tier one contractor has recently been awarded a project to deliver works on the A414 Edinburgh Way / Cambridge Road junction improvement scheme.

The improvements include:

  • The A414 Edinburgh Way between Cambridge Road (Harlow Mill) roundabout and River Way roundabout will be upgraded to dual carriageway (two lanes in each direction)
  • The Cambridge Road roundabout will be upgraded
  • Improvements to the traffic signals at the Edinburgh Way / East Road junction, maintaining a crossing point on the A414 for pedestrians and cyclists
  • Improvements to landscaping and facilities for pedestrians and cyclists
  • With the exception of East Road, vehicles that access premises on Edinburgh Way will be prohibited from turning right due to the new central reservation. Vehicles at the East Road junction will be able to turn in both directions at the traffic signals on completion of the works

They require a permanent Sub Agent to join their team. You will be responsible for the management of the construction site in order to achieve required project delivery to the customers’ objectives, while maintaining standards of health and safety, quality, environmental impact and cost control. 

The Sub Agent will have previous experience in Roads, Kerbs, Drainage, Surfacing and Sub Contract Management. 

The Person:

  • Relevant industry qualification (HND/HNC/BEng or equivalent)
  • Relevant CSCS card
  • CRE Accreditation (preferable)
  • SMSTS 5 days
  • Good knowledge of specifications and testing regime relevant to general civil engineering
  • Hands on approach to the commercial and planning aspects of the project
  • Civil engineering and construction experience
  • Able to produce and explain accurate plans and drawings
  • Good IT skills and able to work confidently with MS Office and other system applications
  • Sound knowledge of construction methods, health and safety, and legal regulations
