The CM will require a thorough understanding of all aspects of the Contract – Specifications, Programme, quantities and Mass Haul distribution, Health, Safety and Environmental constraints and requirements, Quality Assurance deliverance, commercial and contractual demands.
The CM will supervise and mentor the engineering team to ensure all document preparation is submitted on time, QA records are maintained, TQ’s and NCR’s are submitted and dealt with appropriately.
The CM will be responsible for the production of the 3 weekly lookahead programmes and recording of as-built information.

This role is ideal for someone who has proven success at Agent level with particular experience in bulk earthworks.
Role and Responsibilities:
- Thorough knowledge needs to be maintained of the IFC Drawings, Specifications, Technical Standards, Inspection and Test Plans, and the Mass Haul quantities and destinations for each earthworks Asset in the section of work being undertaken.
- Possess the ability to translate that knowledge into accurate construction on site with minimal NCR’s / rework through effective communication with the Works Managers and Foremen.
- Produce the 3 weekly lookahead programmes each week and ensure as-built works are taken into account. Work closely with the Works Manager to assign plant and labour to the programme and highlight any upcoming large changes in requirements to the Project Manager.
- Ensure any defects are highlighted as soon as possible, corrective action is proposed and agreed with the Client quickly, and remedial works / repairs carried out with the minimum of disruption. Ensure all other members of the team learn from the error so mistakes are not repeated.
- Ensure the production of good quality safety documentation (WPP’s and Task Briefings) in a timely manner to allow works to proceed and not be hindered by lack of signed off paperwork.
- Oversee the production of Quality Assurance forms by the engineering team for every section of work, accurately reflecting the as built construction.
- Liaise with the Commercial team and ensure that additional works are identified and EW’s submitted promptly.
- Assist the Mass Haul Manager with quantities, locations, material types etc based on their greater knowledge of the day to day activities.
- Mentor the engineering team members, ensure tasks are delegated fairly and ensure all are enthused and given challenging activities.

Essential requirements:
- Experience of a bulk earthworks environment and a strong interest in the discipline.
- Knowledge of earthworks plant, use of the correct item of plant for the application, and earthworks production outputs.
- Knowledge of the SHW Series 600
- Demonstrable experience of planning the works and use of programming software (preferably Asta Powerproject)
- Basic knowledge of modern survey / setting out techniques, software used, limitations and applications of the various techniques
- Knowledge of the NEC contract, the site contract specifically, and the works that are both allowed for and not allowed for within the contract to allow identification of additional works.
- Experience of compiling QA records in an accurate and methodical manner. Drafting of ITP’s
- SMSTS qualification.
