Sub Agent – Rail (Station Project)
Location: Wigan
Rate: £400–£450/day (Umbrella/PAYE)

Carmichael UK are recruiting for an experienced Sub Agent to join a Tier 1 contractor delivering a rail station upgrade project. This is a key delivery role focused on managing sections of works within a live rail environment.
The Role
- Manage day-to-day delivery of civil works on a rail station project
- Supervise site teams and subcontractors to ensure programme targets are met
- Ensure works are carried out safely in line with Network Rail standards
- Coordinate setting out, surveying, and engineering activities
- Prepare and review RAMS, WPPs, and ITPs
- Work closely with the Agent and commercial team to monitor progress and costs
- Manage site documentation, quality assurance, and reporting
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Sub Agent / Section Engineer / Senior Engineer on rail projects
- Strong background in station works / rail infrastructure
- Valid PTS (Personal Track Safety) – essential
- Experience working for a Tier 1 / main contractor
- Strong knowledge of setting out, levelling, and surveying
- Familiar with Network Rail standards and NEC contracts
- Ability to manage teams, programmes, and site delivery
Desirable
- SMSTS / CSCS
- Experience on station upgrades, platforms, or rail civils packages
- Temporary Works knowledge
