Our client, a well know contractor in New Zealand, are seeking a Surfacing & Industries Manager to work on a permanant basis on the North Island.
This is an exciting role where you will lead our surfacing department and asphalt plant to ensure successful running of both these departments in a developing and growing market.
Responsibilities:
- You will be involved in pricing work, overseeing the daily management of both operations, and the development and delivery of business for Regional growth.
- Manage an operational asphalting crew with support from foremen, including sub-contractors
- Manage a production asphalt plant with support from the asphalt plant operator
- Working effectively with and alongside a diverse range of internal and external clients
- Secure forward workload to maintain the business goals and financial targets for both departments
- Manage key stakeholder engagement
- Renew contracts, pricing and review forward work programmes
- Develop and coach your team to grow their skillset and careers
- Oversee department financials including job pricing, project costs and labour budgets
- Ensure jobs and projects are carried out to specifications and standards, in line with regulations and industry best practice
Skills and experience:
- 5+ years experience with Asphalt and Industries related operations
- Extensive people leadership and management experience, with a focus on mentoring and development
- Financial and business acumen
- Strong planning and organisational capabilities
- Excellent communication and relationship building skills
- Previous experience managing road maintenance contracts
- Experience handling reactive tasks associated with a dynamic roading network
- Commercial cost and control experience
