Our client a major JV delivering the £965m Chilterns Tunnels and Colne Valley Viaduct main works civils contract by HS2.
This is a key section of Phase One of the HS2 high-speed rail network between London and Birmingham.
They require a Survey Technician to join their team. The role will be based out near Uxbridge & Maple Cross. This is a PERMANENT role.
Purpose of the job:
The Survey Technician is responsible for assisting with the surveying and monitoring of the works and data collation.  The role involves assisting with data capture, accurate booking and recording of survey data on site, maintenance of equipment and installation of survey control stations.
 
Responsibilities:
The Survey Technician will be responsible for:
Assisting in survey related works to ensure quality, timely and safe production of project structures
Ensuring safe execution of work at all times
Assisting in maintaining site of survey productivity
Adopting the methods of surveying and monitoring as defined in the method statements and procedures
Adopting best safe practices during all operations in the shaft and around the sites
Assisting in the Surveying and Monitoring of the survey activities:
Monitoring changes in ground conditions both surface and in the tunnels
Assist Survey control of Surface, Tunnel and Shaft sinking
Assist in controlling required profile
Assist with data capture and processing of all data produced
Produce daily reports of results and changes in readings for project as directed by the surveyor
Maintaining daily record of survey activities on site (including personnel attendances, equipment problems, safety issues and improvements)
Willingness and ability to attend work as required on shifts and times dictated by the production works on a 24hour, 7 days a week basis
To comply with requirements outlined in environmental management plan.
Complying with all Company’s Policies and Procedures
Undertaking other such reasonable duties appropriate to the role
 
Skills & Experience:
 
Mandatory:
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal English
Proactive nature with a can do attitude
Proven track record of working large projects dependent upon survey data.
Ability to recognise and implement more efficient and cost effective methods.
Excellent Organisational skills and the ability to plan ahead and manage own time
Computer skills – Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Explorer
CSCS card holder
 
Desirable:
ONC or HNC qualification or equivalent experience in a surveying discipline
