TBM Control room engineer

I have multiple opportunities for engineers with tunnelling experience. A top tier contractor is looking for engineers to join their team on a major project in London. The client would like engineers to be available to start in July with the requirement expected to last a year with potential for extension. The role will primarily be office based, monitoring TBM information but candidates may also be asked to work on site. The availability to work on the shift pattern below is essential 

Shift pattern 

  • 7 Day Shifts   – 2 Days Off
  • 7 Backshifts   – 2 Days Off
  • 7 Night Shifts – 3 Days Off

Roles and Responsibilities will include but not limited to;

  • Providing checks and balances that the TBM is being controlled to the parameters set out in the Plan for TBM Advance and if not asking that the parameters should be followed.
  • Providing the initial surface point of contact in an emergency in the tunnel
  • Having all data available within the control room to be able to brief emergency services of the details of the emergency
  • The collection of data and the reporting of that TBM and associated plant data
  • The management of the Shift Review Group (SRG) provision of data and distribution of minutes
  • Running of a spreadsheet data collection summary sheet
  • Collection of all necessary data check sheets etc. to provide handover packages in 300m lengths of tunnel.
  • Provide accurate and timely responses to project management
  • Attend regular meetings (SRG, CTC)
  • Carry out other relevant duties as required from time to time.

Experience and Knowledge

  • Large diameter EPB TBM experience (Preferred)
  • interest of data management


  • HNC, HND or degree in Civil engineering, Mining or Tunnelling
  • EPB TBM experience
