Temporary Works Coordinator (Reinforced Concrete Structures)

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Temporary Works Coordinator (TWC) to join a leading civil engineering and infrastructure contractor delivering major reinforced concrete structures across the UK.
Working on a complex project including a number of RC Structures and large-scale civil engineering schemes, you will be responsible for the safe management, coordination and implementation of temporary works associated with reinforced concrete construction activities.
This is an excellent opportunity for a Temporary Works professional with strong technical knowledge of reinforced concrete structures, formwork, falsework and construction sequencing to play a key role on high-profile projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate all temporary works activities in accordance with BS 5975.
- Review, manage and maintain the Temporary Works Register.
- Ensure temporary works designs are reviewed, approved and implemented correctly.
- Liaise with Temporary Works Designers, Design Checkers and site management teams.
- Coordinate permits to load, permits to proceed and permits to strike.
- Monitor installation, inspection and removal of temporary works.
- Provide technical support and guidance to construction teams.
- Manage temporary works associated with reinforced concrete structures, including:
- Formwork systems
- Falsework systems
- Reinforcement support arrangements
- Concrete pours
- Backpropping
- Launching and lifting arrangements
- Working platforms
- Access systems
- Ensure all temporary works activities comply with company procedures and health and safety requirements.
- Attend design reviews, construction planning meetings and site inspections.
- Identify and mitigate temporary works risks throughout the construction process.
- Support construction teams with sequencing and buildability reviews.
Requirements
- Previous experience as a Temporary Works Coordinator on major civil engineering or infrastructure projects.
- Strong knowledge of reinforced concrete construction methodologies.
- Experience managing temporary works related to:
- Tunnels
- Water treatment structures
- Retaining structures
- Energy projects
- Large reinforced concrete frames
- Temporary Works Coordinator certification.
- Thorough understanding of BS 5975.
- Ability to interpret temporary works and permanent works drawings.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Excellent understanding of construction health and safety requirements.
- Full UK driving licence.
Desirable
- Degree or HNC/HND in Civil Engineering or Construction Management.
- Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status.
- Experience on major infrastructure projects.
- Experience working with principal contractors.
- Knowledge of reinforced concrete design and construction techniques.
- CSCS card.
- SMSTS qualification.
