Temporary Works Coordinator - Carbon Capture Project – Contract (OUTSIDE IR35)

A leading reinforced concrete specialist contractor is seeking an experienced Temporary Works Coordinator (TWC) to join the delivery team on a major UK Carbon Capture project.  This high-profile infrastructure scheme involves the construction of large-scale reinforced concrete structures, foundations, retaining walls, slabs, columns and process infrastructure as part of a nationally significant Net Zero development.

Due to the complexity and scale of the project, the successful candidate will manage a substantial volume of temporary works designs, permits, remits, engineering approvals, inspections and compliance documentation, ensuring all temporary works activities are delivered safely and in accordance with industry standards.

 

The Role

Reporting to the Project Manager, you will take ownership of the temporary works process across multiple work fronts, acting as the focal point between site teams, designers, engineers and client stakeholders.

This is a fast-paced role requiring exceptional organisation, technical understanding and stakeholder management skills.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Acting as the designated Temporary Works Coordinator for major reinforced concrete construction works
  • Managing the Temporary Works Register and associated tracking systems
  • Coordinating a high volume of temporary works designs, checks and approvals
  • Managing permit systems, remits and engineering authorisations
  • Ensuring compliance with BS 5975 and company temporary works procedures
  • Liaising with Temporary Works Designers, Design Checkers and site management teams
  • Coordinating design review meetings and technical approvals
  • Monitoring implementation, inspection and dismantling of temporary works
  • Maintaining comprehensive records, permits and handover documentation
  • Supporting construction teams with temporary works planning and sequencing
  • Managing interfaces between permanent and temporary works designs
  • Ensuring all temporary works are correctly briefed, inspected and authorised before use
  • Conducting site inspections and audits to verify compliance

Requirements

  • Previous experience as a Temporary Works Coordinator on major civil engineering or infrastructure projects
  • Strong reinforced concrete construction background
  • Experience managing large volumes of temporary works documentation and approvals
  • Thorough understanding of BS 5975 requirements
  • Ability to coordinate multiple temporary works packages simultaneously
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • Experience working closely with design teams and site delivery teams
  • Strong understanding of construction sequencing and engineering principles

 

Essential Qualifications

  • Temporary Works Coordinator Certification
  • CSCS Card
  • SMSTS or SSSTS
  • Civil Engineering qualification desirable
