Carmichaels are recruiting a Temporary Works Design Manager to work on the HS2 project in Buckinghamshire.
About The Candidate
- Manage and co-ordinate the specification, design, approval, checking, installation, maintenance and removal of all necessary temporary works (TW).
- Identify all TW and record on the TW Control Register.
- Assess the risk level of all TW and record on the TW Control Register.
- Prepare Design Briefs with full consultation of those involved, ensuring they are adequate and in accordance with the actual situation on site.
- Ensure TW design and design checks are carried out.
- Ensure a Design Check Certificate or similar is available, where required.
- Ensure designs are available and issued to interested parties (e.g. Client, Principal Designer).
- Ensure the Safe System of Work for the erection, use and dismantling of the TW are prepared, and are communicated to and understood by those involved.
- Provide full details of the design, including any limitations or constraints associated with the TW, are available to those responsible for the erection of TW.
- Ensure TW are inspected during construction, ensuring adequacy of materials.
- Ensure ground conditions, general site conditions, loadings etc. are as stated on the Design Brief or the TW design assumptions (and remain so during use).
- Provide checklists where required.
- Ensure that Hold Points (Permit to Load/Unload) are identified and are known by all those involved and are not passed until a Permit is issued.
- Check that anyone carrying out bespoke fabrication of temporary works is competent.
- Ensure full records and other relevant documents relating to the final design are kept.
- Ensure test records and certificates are produced and retained where required.
- Advise the Contracts/Project Manager if they are to be absent from site for a significant period, so that alternative arrangements can be made.
