Carmichael UK is recruiting for a Temporary Works Design Manager to join the Temporary Works team on a major HS2 superstructure project in Buckinghamshire.
This is a strategic, office-based role that goes beyond typical TWC duties. You’ll manage and coordinate the progress and delivery of temporary works designs from multiple external design organisations—ensuring timely approvals and technically sound solutions.
Key Responsibilities:

Act as an appointed TWC, focused on managing external TW designers

Drive and monitor progress of TW design packages to meet programme demands

Ensure coordination between design teams, site teams, and client approvals

Liaise with third-party designers and checkers to close out technical issues

Maintain documentation, approvals, and assurance records

Support and contribute to TW strategy across the wider programme
What We're Looking For:

Strong technical background in temporary works design

Experience in design and/or engineering management

Knowledge of Temporary Works management procedures

Previous exposure to a variety of TW schemes (TWC or TWS preferred)

CITB TWC qualification – required

Valid CSCS card and right to work in the UK – required

Proactive communicator, confident in managing multiple interfaces
