A high profile opportunity exists for a experienced Temporary Works Designer on a major rail project between Manchester and Leeds. Your recent experience working for a tier one/Principal Contractors on major rail projects whilst part of a Joint venture or alliance would be advantageous however a similar role within Consulting Engineer would be welcomed too. The Client is seeking candidate with expertise in the design of retaining structures, working platforms/pad foundations for cranes/plant loading, hoarding, scaffolding, barrier design, formwork, cabin foundations, protection slabs for services, excavation support/deep drainage and slope stability.

This position falls inside IR35. The rate advertised is negotiable based on your experience.

 

Duties include - 

  • Undertake design of various types of temporary works in accordance with the appropriate standards and the scheme design. 
  • Ensure the Temporary Works are constructed in accordance with the design, the relevant drawings and specifications.
  • Be a point of contact between the designer and the site team for temporary works matters.
  • Assist in the Co-ordination of temporary works between the different site teams outside TW Designers, permanent works Designers, external stakeholders and other key interfaces.
  • Support regular temporary works design meetings 
  • Take part in specific production meetings where required

 

Requirements for this position - 

  • Degree qualification in civil engineering or equivalent
  • Experience in design of temporary works as listed
  • Monitor and ensure the temporary works have been installed correctly
  • Chartered Civil or Structural Engineer preferred 
  • PTS, CSCS advantageous
